April has passed by in a flurry, and it feels like we’re hurtling towards summer (and through 2025!). This month has included an exciting trip to Norway (somewhere that has been on my bucket list for years), along with a few staycations around the UK.

Read on for my favourite hotel stays and standout meals from the month, along with the binge-worthy TV shows I’ve enjoyed.

CULTURE I’ve loved:

TV Shows:

  • Black Mirror

Although recent seasons of Black Mirror have been a bit hit and miss, you’ll want to watch at least one episode from season 7, which just landed on Netflix this month. Like many Black Mirror episodes, technology is cleverly weaved into the storyline of ‘Common People’, which can be watched as a standalone episode: it’s an incredibly clever and chilling take on modern subscription models.

  • The Residence

This comic whodunnit series revolves around a mysterious murder that takes place in The White House. An eccentric detective investigates the death of Chief Usher A.B. Wynter during a chaotic state dinner, unravelling secrets about an equally-as-eccentric set of suspects. It’s a humorous and edge-of-your-seat watch that will keep you in suspense until the final episode.

HOTELS I’ve loved:

Storfjord Hotel

Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to join a bucket list trip to the Norwegian fjords. We travelled with 62 Nord, and stayed at all three of their properties across the fjords. Storfjord Hotel was by far my favourite, and has quickly earned itself a place on my all-time favourites list. A boutique, 30-bedroom alpine retreat tucked high in the mountains, you’ll wake up to heart-stopping views over the forests each morning. Days are spent working up an appetite while kayaking and cycling through the surrounding fjords; come evening, you’ll feast on delicious Scandinavian suppers championing local seafood. The property feels more like a private home than hotel, with a clutch cosy living rooms to kick back in, and homemade chocolate chip cookies that you can help yourself to at any time of day.
